Penelope Cruz make up tutorial

Beautiful  xshumzx asked me to do a step by step tutorial on how to do Penelope Cruz's brown smokey eyes make up look from this L'Oréal mascara commercial. I haven't ever done a tutorial before, but I definitely wanted to try.

Hopefully this tutorial is helpful and you like it! I enjoyed doing it. If there's any tutorials you'd like me to do, or any other suggestions for my blog, please let me know!

I actually really like this look. I wore this for the whole day. I've never used brown eyeshadows before, I have been more like a fan of black and bright colours. But this looks surprisingly good!

I'm also extremely happy about this Hello Kitty eyeshadow palette by H&M. The colours stay on very well! I wore this look for the whole day, even though I didn't fix it during the day, now after about 10 hours my make up is still exactly the same as it was when I had just applied it!

     How to achieve this look:

Step 1: First apply foundation, concealer or whatever you want to use. Then apply light brown eyeshadow all over the lid.

Step 2: Apply darker brown eyeshadow on the outer corner of the eye, and pull it towards the inner corner through the socket.

Step 3: Apply even darker brown, or little bit of black eyeshadow to the outer corner of the eye, and blend it.

Step 4: Line the waterline and the upper and lower lashlines with black eye pencil.

Step 5: Fill in the brows with brown kohl pencil and highlight the brow bone with white eyeshadow.

Step 6: Apply mascara. If you want, you can add false eyelashes too.

The final look:

Purple & Black dramatic make up

I watched Michael James' Blue Black dramatic eyeshadow makeup tutorial, and wanted to do quite similar look. Instead of blue I used purple. I really like this look, this is actually something I could wear everyday. It's very simple and easy to do, and you can change the colours if you want.

Don't forget, blending makes perfect!

I really should wear this kind of dramatic make up more often. It made me feel so comfortable, and somehow super confident! In this picture I don't look so happy though but you can see my gorgeous wedges!

Ipehishere suggested that I'd take a picture of the products that I use to do my make up. I think it's a good idea, and I'm going to continue doing this from now on. But now I'm thinking.. Should I list these products here on the end of the post or at the beginning? Somehow I'd prefer if the close-ups were the last pictures, but on the other hand I don't know if I want to start posts with the products list... What do you think?

mermaid make up

This look is requested by lovely Johanna. She asked me to do a mermaid make up with lots of greens and turquoise blue. Instead of green I used purple though.

I made this look very simple and wearable. Actually, I wore this kind of make up look yesterday, it was just a quick make up I did before going food shopping with my parents. I really fell in love with this colour combo, purple & turquoise.

nail marbling fail

I saw a water nail marbling tutorial on Wasted Seventeen's blog. She managed to create amazing patterns on her nails, and I wanted to try it out too. Her tutorial is very good, and very easy to follow.. She really made nail marbling look like an easy thing to do. But well, everything isn't really like it looks like...

I told my sister Janika about this, and showed her the pictures and the tutorial, and straight away we went to try it out. The nail marbling failed, but we had fun.

The surface of the water looked so weird after our experiments.

Here's how Janika's nails turned out.

And here's mine. After cleaning the excess nail varnish on my skin, the left one actually looks quite ok. Practising makes perfect... So I think I have to try this out later again.

Have you ever tried nail marbling? How did it turn out?

Jeffree Star - Beauty Killer make up

If I can't be beautiful, I'd rather just die ..

Beauty Killer is absolutely one of my favourite songs from Jeffree Star.. And the video, it's so simple but yet amazing! Jeffree looks FIERCE and I love his make up in this video!

And yeah, I wanted to try to recreate his make up look from the video!

I don't have any products like wax or something for covering the eyebrows, I just used white kohl to cover them. So, they're not perfectly covered.. I could have edited the pictures and make them perfect but I thought it would be better to show them how they really are so you can see how good this kohl is for covering eyebrows.

I also had some problems with taking the pictures, when I took pictures without flash as I usually do, the purple colour didn't show up in the pictures. And with flash the pink colour on my eyelids somehow disappeared. I wish you could see this make up how it was in the real life but well.. Nothing ever looks as good in the pictures as it looks in the mirror.

pink, white and blue make up

I thought it's time to do something a bit more wearable again! This is just a simple shimmery look using pink, white and blue. This look kind of reminds me of Shiva Queen's Crystal-Eyesed look. Once I actually wanted to recreate that Crystal-Eyesed look, with a different colours though, but couldn't find my false eyelashes glue for attaching the red 'crystals' so I had to do something else..

Surprising how good the lighting still was outside, even though I did this make up after 9pm!

H&M make up haul

Today I accidentally figured out that my eyeshadows stay lots of better and longer when I use concealer as a base. But as my concealer is almost finished, I went to buy a new one at H&M. But I left the shop with something else than only the concealer...

Hello Kitty - Kitty Beach Party eyeshadow palette. I wanted to buy this palette, because I really don't have many eyeshadows and I don't have yellow or orange at all.. And I thought I want to have all colours available when I'm doing make up experiments. I'm actually quite surprised how pigmented these colours are, and I didn't even use wet applicators when I did the swatches! These colours are shimmery, don't know if it shows in the pictures though. The blue and purple one are my favourites! This palette wasn't on sale, and it costed 4.95€.

There was many products on sale at H&M, and I just can't say no when I see 1€ prize tags.. All these products I'm going to show next, they were only 1€/each!

Hello Kitty - Kitty Garden eyeshadow palette. These eyeshadows are shimmery too, but not as pigmented as the colours on the palette above. Probably they'll be better when I use them wet.

Hello Kitty - strawberry love lipgloss. Cute, shimmery lipgloss, smells quite nice.

Hello Kitty mirror. I've lived without little mirror for a looong time, since I lost my powder which had a mirror in it. So I wanted to buy a mirror now, and this one is very cute.

Vanillasorbet lip balm. The only product I bough which wasn't Hello Kitty! Though, at first I almost bought Hello Kitty lip balm but then I decided to take this one instead. I've used only Vaseline for so long and I wanted something else for my lips! I read the ingredients list and it doesn't involve lanolin which is good, as i'm trying to avoid it. There's been something wrong with my lips occasionally and my doctor told me to avoid lanolin in lipbalms because it might cause allergy.

It feels so nice to buy something for myself sometimes. I've always been so strict when I'm saving money for something.. But I guess I could allow myself to spend few euros every now and then, I'm sure I'm still going to have enough money for shopping in October when I go to London.
